Frequently asked questions
At Cedar Park, we understand that homeschooling is a popular option for many families. Homeschooling provides a unique opportunity for parents to tailor their son/daughter's education to their specific needs and interests. Unlike traditional schooling, there are no tests, no falling behind, no being held back and there is no peer pressure. It also allows for a more flexible schedule and can provide a safer and more comfortable learning environment. Homeschoolers can choose their own pathway and the only person that their learning impacts is themselves. We have witnessed time and time again a huge shift in attitude with our homeschoolers. Their self-motivation and independence become noticeable and from this comes resilience and a good work ethic.
Homeschooling can be a challenging experience for many parents. Without the support and resources of a traditional school, parents may struggle to create a well-rounded curriculum or provide adequate socialisation opportunities for their son/daughter. Our experienced and highly skilled tutors can provide individualised support and guidance to homeschoolers, helping them to create a comprehensive and engaging curriculum. We also offer extracurricular activities and social events to help homeschoolers connect with their peers and form friendships. Whether you are a seasoned homeschooling family or just starting to explore this educational option, Cedar Park is here to help. Contact us today to learn more about our homeschooling services and how we can support your homeschooler's education.
Our small groups allow us to tailor tutoring to meet the individual learning needs and strengths of each homeschooler, ensuring a personalised approach that caters for a wide range of abilities and ages. Our commitment is to provide appropriate challenges for individuals in a beautiful community environment.
All members of our groups will require a laptop or tablet for the core options. Whilst mobile phones are able to be brought into the learning areas, we request that they are placed out of sight (details to be confirmed). Urgent messages may be sent to the tutors. Homeschoolers can have access to their phones at all times, however we expect full engagement throughout the sessions. Phone calls may be made outside of the learning areas. No use of cameras or videoing including audio may be made whilst at Cedar Park without the full knowledge of those involved and agreement of the tutors. Respect and safety are at the top of our priorities.

A: At Cedar Park, we prioritise creating a safe, positive and productive learning environment for all homeschoolers, striving to foster a community where every individual feels valued and supported. Our behaviour policies are thoughtfully designed to ensure mutual respect, safety, and effective learning for everyone involved in our educational programs. Here are the key components of our behaviour policies:
1. **Respectful Communication:** We place a high emphasis on respectful and courteous interactions. Homeschoolers are expected to engage with their peers and tutors in a manner that reflects kindness and consideration at all times. Any form of bullying, harassment, or disrespectful behaviour is strictly prohibited. This includes verbal, physical, and cyber interactions. Ensuring a respectful environment fosters a sense of safety and belonging for everyone.
2. **Participation and Engagement:** Active participation is a cornerstone of the learning experience at Cedar Park. We encourage homeschoolers to actively engage in their tutoring sessions and contribute positively to group discussions and activities. This engagement not only enhances individual learning but also enriches the educational experience for the entire group.
3. **Classroom Etiquette:** Punctuality is essential to maintaining an organized and effective learning environment. Homeschoolers should arrive on time for their sessions, ready to participate actively. We also expect students to avoid causing disruptions during sessions. Mobile phones and other electronic devices should be used responsibly and exclusively for educational purposes during class time. Devices should not be used without permission. We understand that homeschoolers may feel the need to contact home at any time. We ask that phones are stored away in allocated compartments, but know that they can access their phone at any time for essential communication with parents with our permission.
4. **Personal Responsibility:** Responsibility extends beyond academics; it includes taking good care of one's learning materials and environment. Homeschoolers are accountable for maintaining cleanliness and order in their learning spaces and should take good care of any resources provided by Cedar Park. This collective effort helps sustain an efficient and pleasant learning environment for everyone.
5. **Parent Involvement:** We believe that parents play a crucial role in supporting their child's education. We encourage parents to model positive behaviour, such as respect and responsibility, and to reinforce these values at home. We also expect parents to stay actively involved in their child's academic life and promptly address any behavioural issues brought to their attention.
6. **Consequences for Misbehaviour:** We reserve the right to withdraw your child's place if we determine that Cedar Park is not a suitable learning environment for them.
By adhering to these comprehensive behaviour policies, we ensure that Cedar Park remains a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment. This approach not only supports the academic growth of our honeschoolers but also their personal development, enabling them to thrive both academically and socially.
