Unlike traditional schooling, there are no tests, no falling behind, no being held back and there is no peer pressure. It also allows for a more flexible schedule and can provide a safer and more comfortable learning environment. Homeschoolers can choose their own pathway and the only person that their learning impacts is themselves.  We have witnessed time and time again a huge shift in attitude with our homeschoolers. Their self-motivation and independence become noticeable and from this comes resilience and a good work ethic.
Homeschooling can be a challenging experience for many parents. Without the support and resources of a traditional school, parents may struggle to create a well-rounded curriculum or provide adequate socialisation opportunities for their son/daughter. I am doing a TAFE/Uni online course but am still of school age. Am I able to join the Cedar Park community?

Cedar Park tutors are able to provide some support to those students new to TAFE and university courses and are still of school age. We strongly believe that a community is of utmost importance to everyone and open our doors to those who would like to be a part of our community.

How big are the groups?

We aim to keep our group sizes small so that we can better assist with a range of abilities. The selected options may vary in group size depending on the activity and number of staff available.

How do you cater for my child's needs if they are working with different aged homeschoolers?

Our small groups allow us to tailor tutoring to meet the individual learning needs and strengths of each homeschooler, ensuring a personalised approach that caters for a wide range of abilities and ages. Our commitment is to provide appropriate challenges for individuals in a beautiful community environment.

Can my child go to university if they have been homeschooled?

Absolutely! We currently have several homeschoolers studying online university courses. Homeschooling has become a popular and effective way of educating children, and many universities and colleges accept homeschoolers.

Question 8

What technology requirements do I need for Cedar Park?

Accepted Answer

All members of our groups will require a laptop or tablet for the core options. Whilst mobile phones are able to be brought into the learning areas, we request that they are placed out of sight (details to be confirmed). Urgent messages may be sent to the tutors. Homeschoolers can have access to their phones at all times, however we expect full engagement throughout the sessions. Phone calls may be made outside of the learning areas. No use of cameras or videoing including audio may be made whilst at Cedar Park without the full knowledge of those involved and agreement of the tutors. Respect and safety are at the top of our priorities.

How long are the terms?

We start each term in line with the dates that mainstream starts in case any of our homeschoolers have siblings in mainstream schools. Each of our 4 terms are 8 weeks long.

Do your tutors and mentors at Cedar Park have the relevant qualifications and police checks?

Yes, all tutors at Cedar Park are highly qualified and have undergone thorough police checks to ensure a safe and secure learning environment for our students. They hold the necessary academic qualifications and teaching certifications, which meet or exceed industry standards. Additionally, all staff members have passed comprehensive background checks, including police clearances, to provide peace of mind to parents and guardians. At Cedar Park, we pride ourselves on maintaining the highest standards of professionalism.

Homeschoolers are expected to engage with their peers and tutors in a manner that reflects kindness and consideration at all times. Any form of bullying, harassment, or disrespectful behaviour is strictly prohibited. This includes verbal, physical, and cyber interactions. Ensuring a respectful environment fosters a sense of safety and belonging for everyone.

2. **Participation and Engagement:** Active participation is a cornerstone of the learning experience at Cedar Park. We encourage homeschoolers to actively engage in their tutoring sessions and contribute positively to group discussions and activities. Mobile phones and other electronic devices should be used responsibly and exclusively for educational purposes during class time. Devices should not be used without permission. We understand that homeschoolers may feel the need to contact home at any time. We ask that phones are stored away in allocated compartments, but know that they can access their phone at any time for essential communication with parents with our permission.

Homeschoolers are accountable for maintaining cleanliness and order in their learning spaces and should take good care of any resources provided by Cedar Park. 1. **Enrolment Requirements**: Parents/guardians are required to complete an application form providing accurate and up-to-date information about their homeschooler.

2. **Payment Policy**: A non-refundable deposit is required at the time of enrolment. Tuition fees must be paid prior to the commencement of the term in accordance with the payment schedule. Late payments may incur additional charges and could affect the homeschooler's continuation at Cedar Park.

3. **Attendance and Punctuality**: Regular attendance is crucial for academic progress and community engagement. Parents/guardians are requested to inform us of any absences.

4. **Conduct and Discipline**: Homeschoolers are expected to adhere to Cedar Park's code of conduct, which promotes respect, responsibility and integrity. In cases of repeated misconduct, we reserve the right to withdraw the placement.

5. **Health and Safety**: Parents/guardians must inform Cedar Park of any medical conditions or special requirements the homeschooler may have. It is important to provide emergency contact details and consent for Cedar Park to take necessary action in case of a medical emergency. Parents must remain reachable at all times while their homeschooler is at Cedar Park and be prepared to pick them up if requested by the tutors.
